Erin Andrews Explains 50 Cent Kiss, Says She Was Busy Looking For Danica Patrick

Erin Andrews is explaining her 50 Cent kiss awkwardness, saying that she never intended to snub the rapper at the Daytona 500.

Andrews was caught on camera in what appeared to be an attempt to dodge a kiss from 50 Cent. Andrews said she was making her way through the crowd to find driver Danica Patrick, but couldn’t locate her or any of the other drivers.

The Fox Sports reporter would have good reason to be frantic. Danica had earned pole position for the race, the first time a woman ever started in that position in the history of the race. It was also the first pole position for Danica on NASCAR’s upper circuit.

The 50 Cent kiss snub was a result of that craziness, Erin Andrews explains.

“It was my fault. I was rushed — none of the drivers were in their spot for the Daytona 500 pit walk. They were all in the bathroom,” Erin told Access Hollywood while she was at the 2013 FOX Sports Upfront After Party in New York City on Tuesday. Andrews added that the drivers were taking a last-minute bathroom run. “Everybody was supposed to be in their spot and then they all went to the bathroom and I was screwed.”

It was just then that Andrews found 50 Cent in the crowd — at the exact same time that Danica Patrick returned.

“He grabbed me, I went one way, they screamed ‘Danica,’ I whipped my neck, I got whiplash and it’s fine,” Andrews said.

The image of the apparent kiss snub was replayed countless times and became a popular video online at sites like Reddit and The Huffington Post. Andrews’ rejection of 50 Cent also became a trending topic on Twitter.

Erin Andrews also explains that the 50 Cent kiss has not strained the relationship between the two. As the New York Post noted, Andrews is a brand ambassador for SK Energy Drink, which the rapper helped to co-found.
