3 dead, 5 more shot at ABB in St. Louis

Three people were killed and five more suffered gunshot wounds at a workplace shooting in St. Louis, Missouri today.

ABB Inc. in North St. Louis was the site of the shootings, and company administrators told police the gunman is thought to be Timothy Hendron, 51, an assembly line worker at the company who had been dismissed. It is unclear if the shooter is among the wounded.

Police say the assailant entered the building just after 6:30 armed with a rifle and a handgun, and that the building was finally cleared at 10 am. Between 40 and 50 people were in the building at the time, and that a significant number of employees stayed home this morning due to heavy snow in the area.

ABB released a very brief statement addressing the incident:

“We received reports of a shooting in one of our facilities. Our main concern is the safety of our employees. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims.”
