Royal Air Freight Plane Crashes Near Chicago Executive Airport, Two Dead


A Royal Air Freight jet crashed in forest near the Chicago Executive Airport Tuesday, killing two people onboard.

Royal Air Freight Flight 998 (RAX 988,) believed to be a Learjet, crashed on approach to the airport at 1:30pm local time. The plane had been cleared to land, and weather conditions in the are were said to be good with light clouds and no visibility issues.

The flight started in Pontiac, Michigan and was on route to Atlanta with a scheduled stop in Chicago.

Authorities said that they had recovered two bodies from the wreckage, believed to be those of the pilot and co-pilot. The names of the deceased have not been released.
