Mariah Carey: Dream Team Will Produce New Album

Mariah Carey’s 2013 album, so far unnamed, will have the help of top producers including The Dream, Hit Boy, Big Jim Wright, and Rodney Jerkins, according to an interview with Gail Mitchell for Billboard. The Love King musician The Dream is known for co-writing big popular hits like Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” That 2008 release smashed the charts with more than 5 million digital downloads as of October 2012, according to the statistics posted on Wikipedia.

In the exclusive interview with Mitchell, 42-year-old Carey said: “Wherever we go with this project, I’ve tried to keep the soul and heart in it. It’s about making sure I have tons of good music, because at the end of the day, that’s the most important thing.”

Biography has written that Mariah Carey, with 160 million albums sold worldwide, is one of the most popular singers of all time. With the release of 2008’s “Touch My Body,” she passed up Elvis Presley on the charts, “to become second only to The Beatles for the most number one hit singles in the US.”

It’s a lot of legend to live up to, especially when you have two-year-old twins in the house and a high profile gig as a judge on American Idol. Some observers might feel like she’s almost too busy to maintain complete control over her body-hugging costumes. There was a tempest in a teapot last week when multiple observers claimed that she’d let her left nipple peek out of a dress at a party in Atlanta.

Maybe, but The Inquistr inspected video of the scene in question — hey, it’s a tough job but somebody’s got to it — and most of us concluded that the so-called “nip slip” was much ado about nothing. If you squint just right, maybe you can see a hint of nipple…or maybe it’s just some bad lighting in the dark venue.

The announcement that The Dream and other top names will be working on her new album can only help Mariah Carey get the conversation back to her music, instead of her incredible body.
