911 For A Cheeseburger? Man Arrested After Placing Order With Police

An Indiana man was arrested after he reportedly dialed 911 for a cheeseburger.

Authorities explained that 52-year-old Gregory Jackson Sr. called dispatchers a total of nine times trying to order a cheeseburger. According to Yahoo! News, police said the man placed the calls over the span of around 90 minutes.

Officers were eventually sent to Jackson’s home after he repeatedly called 911 for a cheeseburger. Authorities said dispatchers were concerned for the man’s well-being since he seemed focused on getting some food.

After 911 dispatchers initially hung up on the man, police explained he called back complaining that he had been disconnected.

The operator told Jackson:

“Well I asked if you had an emergency. You said no, you needed a cheeseburger. So we don’t take cheeseburger orders.”

The man continued to call 911 asking for a cheeseburger. Dispatchers asked Jackson to provide some personal information under the guise of helping him out. Police soon arrived at the hungry man’s house to place him under arrest.

RTV6 explains that Jackson has been arrested over a dozen times for public intoxication since the 1990s. To make matters worse for the man, he had failed to show up in court two days prior to the cheeseburger ordeal.

Henry County Sheriff Butch Baker told Muncie Star Press that Jackson wouldn’t receive a cheeseburger when he arrived at his jail cell. Instead, police reportedly gave the hungry man a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

This isn’t the first time someone has attempted to order something from 911. The Inquisitr previously reported that Texas police arrested a 48-year-old woman earlier this month after she called 911 looking for some cigarettes.

After getting her home address, the dispatcher sent police to her house to make the arrest. The intoxicated woman said she thought it would be funny to call 911 for cigarettes.
