Taylor Swift Reveals She Is Getting Political With New Music

She first revealed her political beliefs when she encouraged her fans to vote for the Democrats in the midterm elections in November last year, and Taylor Swift admitted that her new music will be more politically-inclined than anything she’s put out before.

According to The Daily Mail, the 29-year-old said during an interview with RTL that she will continue to urge her fans to go out and vote, regardless of who they support, especially now that the 2020 presidential election is approaching.

“I definitely think there are political undertones in the new music I made. I’m not planning to stop encouraging young people to vote and to try to get them to talk about what’s going on in our country. I think that’s one of the most important things I could do,” she said during her chat with the German outlet.

The Tennessee-native usually refrained from expressing her opinions regarding politics throughout her decade-long career, but last year she took to social media to publicly support Rep. Jim Cooper and senatorial candidate Phil Bredesen, both Democrats, as well as encourage other people to learn more about the candidates before heading to the ballot box. For instance, Taylor wrote on Instagram on October 7 that, while she “would like to continue voting for women in office,” she felt like she could not vote for Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn as she did not agree with her policies.

“Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women,” she said before naming a few other policies that Blackburn supported and claiming those were “not MY Tennessee values.”

The Grammy-winner’s chat with RTL also made headlines because of her response to being asked whether she was ready to settle down and build a family. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Taylor refused to answer when the interviewer questioned her about “settling down and having kids” now that she was almost turning 30.

“I really do not think men are asked that question when they turn 30. So I’m not going to answer that question now,” she firmly replied.

Taylor is currently dating actor Joe Alwyn, but they have kept their relationship extremely private since the very beginning. And while they’re reportedly very serious about their romance, it seems like she is not ready to think about settling down as she is focused on her career at the moment. The star is about to drop her seventh studio album, but fans already got a taste of what’s to come via her new single, “ME!” which features Panic! At The Disco singer Brendon Urie.
