Seth MacFarlane Says He Isn’t Interested In Hosting The Oscars Again

Seth MacFarlane says he’s not interesting in tackling hosting duties for the Oscars again.

Shortly after the 85th Annual Academy Awards, the Family Guy creator addressed a few of his fans on Twitter. At one point during the conversation, someone asked MacFarlane if he would be hosting the Oscars in the future.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seth may not be interested in returning for another go-around. His response to the Twitter question pretty much says it all.

Seth MacFarlane responded:

“No way. Lotta fun to have done it, though.”

Unless he has a change of heart down the road, it would appear that MacFarlane is currently uninterested in performing that particular job all over again.

Although this news is certainly disappointing for those who found the Ted director’s sense of humor to be spot-on, others are no doubt thrilled that he won’t come back for more.

Metro reports that Anti-Defamation League national director Abraham Foxman wasn’t thrilled with the jokes Seth MacFarlane made about Jews controlling Hollywood.

Foxman said in a statement:

“While we have come to expect inappropriate ‘Jews control Hollywood’ jokes from Seth MacFarlane, what he did at the Oscars was offensive and not remotely funny. It only reinforces stereotypes which legitimize anti-Semitism. It is sad and disheartening that the Oscars awards show sought to use anti-Jewish stereotypes for laughs.”

While MacFarlane’s turn as host has received mixed reviews from viewers, the Los Angeles Times reports that ratings were actually up for this year’s Oscars.

Nielsen calculates that around 40.3 million people tuned in to see the 85th Annual Academy Awards show this year. The website points out that the ceremony posted the best ratings since 2010.

Are you a fan of Seth MacFarlane? Are you disappointed that he may not return to host the Oscars next year?
