‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Unveils New Motion Poster, ‘First Look’ Featurette [Photo, Video]


Star Trek Into Darkness has received its very own motion poster. Chances are that’s what you’re hearing on your speakers right now.

Instead of going for something shocking, unsettling, or attention-grabbing, the motion poster for director J.J. Abrams’ instead goes for something a bit more atmospheric. The narration teases the return of a dark and sinister individual, a person who appear to have his mind set on revenge.

Visually, you’re not getting anything you haven’t already seen before. It’s essentially the same “back to the camera” one-sheet that has been making the rounds for quite some time. As far as motion posters go, it’s actually not the worst you’re likely to encounter online.

Check out the movie’s official synopsis:

“When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

“With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.”

The folks at Paramount Pictures has also unleashed a new 90-second “First Look” featurette. In addition to getting a look at some footage from Star Trek Into Darkness, you’ll also hear J.J. Abrams discuss what fans can expect from the sequel.

Director J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness is scheduled to beam down into theaters on May 17. However, Imax theaters will start screening the flick on May 15. Are you looking forward to the upcoming sequel?
