As we reported earlier tonight (and first online), Twitter suffered a major outage Thursday evening (US Time)/ Friday (everywhere else.) New reports claims that Twitter being down might have been caused by Iranian hackers.
Multiple sites are claiming that for a brief time before Twitter went down, a message briefly appeared on Twitter.com that claimed that the site had "hacked by the Iranian Cyber Army."
The message went on to claim that "U.S.A. Think They Controlling And Managing Internet By Their Access, But THey Don't, We Control And Manage Internet By Our Power, So Do Not Try To Stimulation Iranian Peoples To...."
As reported earlier, this is the first big outage for Twitter for some time, and caps a year in which the previously unreliable service has mostly stayed up, even in the face of massive growth.
