Are you looking forward to seeing James Franco swallow a whole gun in his mouth in Spring Breakers? Then there is good news for those of you who are in New York or Los Angeles. It's just been announced that Annapurna, the distributing company behind Spring Breakers, is releasing the film a week earlier then originally slated.
The March 22 Spring Breakers release date is now pushed up to a limited March 15 and will follow a normal roll out schedule, which will then start on March 22. The R-rated film follows a gang of coeds (Ashley Benson, Selena Gomez, and Vanessa Hudgens) through a wild exploration of spring break. Throughout the film the girls get mixed up with a drug-dealing rapper (James Franco) in pursuit of some good ole fashioned spring break fun. However, the girls get much more than they bargain for.
Spring Breakers debuted at the Venice Film Festival to terrific reviews. Later on in the film festival circuit, it will be played at SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas. One review reads:
"The film looks legitimately fantastic – a colourful, neon-lit nighttime aesthetic highly reminiscent of this summer's other Florida-set picture, "Magic Mike" (the two will make a hell of a double bill one day). There's also some dazzling camerawork, including a genuinely awe-inspiring crane shot of a pool party with what looks like thousands of extras, and a brilliantly choreographed tracking shot of the robbery seen through the window of the getaway car."
"I've done my best to warn the parents and my younger fans. Iʼll be 21 this year so for me itʼs been kind of refreshing and nice to step out of my comfort zone and do things that I didn't think I could do as an actress."
