Cast Of ‘Chicago’ To Reunite At The Oscars

Going from the other guild award shows, there doesn’t seem to be much surprises in store for the Academy Awards with the exception of Best Supporting Male category. However, it appears that the Academy still has a little something up their sleeve. The cast of Chicago will be reuniting for the telecast, according to Deadline.

Rene Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere, and Queen Latifah will join the other presenters to announce the winners.

This is the first time the cast of Chicago has took the stage since performing 10 years ago. In 2003 Chicago, which was the film based on the musical, led the nominations with thirteen. It went on to win Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Zeta-Jones), Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Picture, and Best Sound.

Looks like if Seth MacFarlane does a lackluster job, he’ll be saved by the performers that are scheduled to sing, which include Adele, Norah Jones and Barbara Streisand, the latter who hasn’t made a performance in a whopping 23 years. Also, Adele is set to give what is presumed to be her first and last performance of the theme from Skyfall.

Besides the cast of Chicago, other presenters include Mark Wahlberg, his stuffed bear “Ted’, The Avengers cast including Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo. In addition returning winners of last year’s Oscar ceremony are set to hit the stage as well, notably Jean Dujardin, Christopher Plummer, Octavia Spencer and Meryl Streep.

The Academy Awards are set to air live in the Dolby Theater on February 24.
