Steelers lose to their rivals, complete terrible week

On nights like tonight football fans everywhere have to give big props to one Art Modell. Even in Cleveland, where Modell is though to be the devil. However, if were not for Modell we would not have the great rivalry that is the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. Back when the AFL and the NFL merged Modell convinced the Rooney family to switch to the AFC with Cleveland so that both teams could battle with Paul Brown’s Cincinnati Bengals. Later when Modell moved his Browns to Baltimore the AFC North got his fourth team. From football team all over thanks Art for great games like the one we saw tonight.

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have lost games this week to the Oakland Raiders (4-8) and the Browns (2-11), and complete a five game slide that has left their playoffs hopes on life support. In a crowded AFC field the Steelers not sit at 6-7. With games left with the Green Bay Packers, Baltimore Ravens at home, and at Miami it seems likely the Steelers will finish 8-8, and not qualify for the playoffs. Worse than that there is a very real chance that the Steelers could not win another game this season.

Something is clearly wrong with the Steelers, and it seems that their problems start on their offense line. The Cleveland Browns were able to sack Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger seven times, and in previous weeks he has been sacked 30 times, since 2004 he is the most sacked QB in the NFL, and there seems to be no wonder why he had three football related concussions.

While the lack of a running game, the Steelers only rank 14th in the league in rushing, is also to blame. Of course we could also blame the lack of a Steelers running game on their offensive line. However, star RB Willie Parker has missed time due to injury, and has not seemed right all year. Against the Browns he had just three carries for 12 yards.
