Usain Bolt To Show Off His Skills In NBA Celebrity All-Star Game

Usain Bolt has been named as a participant in the Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity game, but though the track star may excel at two sports, basketball doesn’t appear to be one of them.

The two-time Olympic champion from Jamaica is not only the fastest man on earth, but also sports a mean soccer game, getting a tryout from Manchester United last summer. But as Kelly Dwyer of the Yahoo! Sports blog Ball Don’t Lie points out, Bolt isn’t very good when it comes to hoops.

Dwyer cited a video highlighted by The Basketball Jones‘ Trey Kerby that showed Bolt on the court for a shootaround before a German playoff game in 2012. As the video below shows, it’s not too pretty — unless Usain Bolt’s intention was to build a cathedral with all the bricks he’s laying. On the plus side, it appears he does have some nice hops, and if he can get his timing down he can throw down some dunks on the likes of Nick Cannon and Common in the celebrity game.

Aside from Usain Bolt, the Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity game features former NBA players Dikembe Mutombo, Clyde Drexler, Sean Elliott, and Bruce Bowen; and WNBA stars Tamika Catchings and Maya Moore.

In the meantime, Usain Bolt is still working at the sport he’s actually quite good at. He’s set to join fellow countryman Yohan Blake on Saturday, opening the 2013 athletics season racing in the 400 meters on Saturday at the Camperdown Classic outdoor meeting.

Here is the video of Usain Bolt trying his hand at basketball (he’s the one in the black, nailing most of his shots high off the backboard):
