Brooklyn Teacher’s Aide Pleads Guilty To Producing Child Porn

Brooklyn, NY — A teacher’s aide at a Brooklyn elementary school pleaded guilty to producing child pornography inside the school Friday.

Taleek Brooks, who worked at PS 243 in Crown Heights, admitted that he produced a video of a student engaged in sexual activity.

“I was responsible for the filming of a minor masturbating,” Brooks told federal Magistrate Judge Roanne Mann, according to The New York Post.

The 42-year-old also admitted to sending files of a different pornographic video, this one showing an adult sexually assaulting a child, to an undercover FBI agent. Brooks faces 15 to 50 years in prison according to plea agreement with Brooklyn federal prosecutors.

Brooks worked at PS 243, also known as “The Weeksville School” for almost twenty years before he was arrested by FBI agents last year. The agents found over 1,000 explicit photos of children as young as 10 during a search of Brooks’ home.

According to Huffington Post, police found two self-produced child porn films: one of him touching a child’s genitals, and another of him spanking a naked child. Brooks had been arrested in January and charged for possession and distribution of child pornography.

School chancellor Dennis Walcott said he immediately met with school staff after learning about the charges against Brooks.

“As chancellor, and as a father, I am horrified and disgusted at the charges we learned of today from the FBI,” Walcott said in a statement. “Our paramount concern is for the safety of our students, and we are cooperating fully with the federal authorities as they continue their investigation.”

After Brooks was arrested, his blog — which featured a photo of him dressed as the Easter Bunny and surrounded by children — was taken down.
