Smithsonian To Feature “The Art Of Video Games” Exhibit In 2012

Starting on March 16th 2012 visitors to the Smithsonian museum will be able to follow the evolution of video games as an art form. An exhibit museum officials hope will be “the first to examine comprehensively the evolution of video games themselves as an artistic medium.”

The exhibit, named “The Art Of Video Games” will include various “art forms” including footage from various games both from the past and present, video interviews with the artists who have helped create the game and game developers who brought them to life.

The Smithsonian will also provide several consoles where visitors can play various games on exhibit. They are also currently welcoming suggestions from attendees and Chris Melissinos will appear as the guest curator for the exhibit.

The special exhibit will end on September 9th 2012. [Joystiq]
