The death of a cruise ship singer has prompted a mystery, and what led to the sudden passing of Jackie Kastrinelis, 24, on a cruise this past Sunday remains to be seen.

The cruise ship singer’s mystery death was discovered Sunday morning in Australia, when Kastrinelis was found dead in her cabin on the Regent Seven Seas Voyager. Immediately, the vessel was declared a crime scene as the cruise ship singer’s death was investigated — but according to ABC, police in Australia “appear to have ruled out foul play” as a cause in the incident.

One clue has been discovered in the cruise ship singer’s mystery death — Kastrinelis was treated the night before she was found dead after suffering an injury, and the network reports that the incident is being explored as a possible precipitate.

Toxicology and other tests standard after an unexpected passing like Kastrinelis’ are also underway, and the singer’s family is headed to Australia to claim her body.

In response to the cruise ship singer’s mystery death, the US-based cruise line has issued a statement offering condolences:

Cruise Law News, a site specializing in the legal issues that surround cruise ships, reports that the cruise ship singer’s mystery passing may have followed a rehearsal-related injury on the ship:

“We received information that the crew member had an accident the preceding day during a rehearsal where she hit her head and had been given medicine by the ship doctor.”

A former teacher of Kastrinelis said of her death that the cruise ship singer “stood out a little bit brighter … but you can say that about anybody … about Jackie it is absolutely true.”
