Donte Whitner: 49ers Will Win Super Bowl In 2014

Donte Whitner says the 49ers will win the Super Bowl in 2014.

After a stinging Super Bowl loss to the Ravens that saw the 49ers fall five yards short of glory, San Francisco is putting the past behind it and looking towards next season.

While a few members of the team have complained about the officiating of the Super Bowl, the 49ers have a young core of players who know they will get another shot.

Pro Bowl cornerback Donte Whitner believes the team will win the Super Bowl in 2014. According to ESPN, he says the 49ers are a “dynasty in the making.”

Whitner spoke candidly and very highly about the teams chances in 2013:

“We take steps every year. Last year we made it to the NFC Championship Game with no expectations. This year we made it to the Super Bowl and 5 yards from the championship. Next year we gonna win this thing. Nobody cares about second place.”

The 49ers lost the NFC Championship game to the New York Giants two years ago. The game was won 20-17 by an overtime field goal.

In this year’s Super Bowl, the 49ers overcame a 22-point deficit to get stopped by a Ravens goal line stand. The final score was 34-31.

If Whitner’s prediction is correct, the 49ers would be the first team to go to back to back Super Bowl’s since the Patriot’s in 2004 and 2005. The Patriots won both times.

Returning to the Super Bowl will be no easy task, but the 49ers have one thing going for it: coaching continuity. The team will carry the exact same coaching staff into next season.

Donte Whitner believes the 49ers will be Super Bowl champions in 2014. Do you agree?
