Ryan Gosling Casts Eva Mendes In Directorial Debut

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes seem to be on the right track personally and professionally speaking. As some of you may know, Gosling is about to make his directorial debut for the surrealist and horror film How To Catch A Monster.

According to Bloody Disgusting, and a few other sources, Gosling just decided to cast girlfriend Eva Mendes in his directorial debut. Mendes is the second cast member from Gosling’s upcoming film The Place Beyond The Pines. Rob Zabrecky, who is also in Gosling’s directorial debut, is also in The Place Beyond The Pines.

Mendes is said to play Cat, which is described as a member of the “Big Bad Wolf Club.” It’s not certain what the Big Bad Wolf Club is. Perhaps it suggests a sinister fairy tale turn? In addition, Zabrecky is said to play a cab driver, but it’s unclear as to how big of a part both actors will have in the film.

Knowing Gosling and his side projects, and his infinity for skeletons, one can assume that How To Catch A Monster will be a twisted world of strange revelations. It certainly makes for an interesting new project. Seeing as Gosling has worked under greats like Derek Cianfrance, and George Clooney, hopefully he picked up a few tricks of the director’s trade. Recently we’ve seen many actors become successful in making the turn from actor to director. Most recently Joseph Gordon-Levitt who was able to sell his film Don Jon’s Addiction as it premiered out of Sundance.
