Florida Mother Pleads Guilty To Selling 6-Year-Old Daughter For Sex

Jacksonville Beach, FL — A Florida mother faces prison after pleading guilty to selling sex with her 6-year-old daughter for money and drugs.

As part of a plea deal, 36-year-old Dalina Nicholas pleaded guilty to four counts of child neglect Wednesday. A charge of sexual battery was dropped in exchange for testimony against four others charged in the case. Thirty-four-year-old Ryan Harrover and 57-year-old Quinn Brooks have been charged with lewd or lascivious molestation and sexual battery. Fifty-two-year-old Norman Thompson and 48-year-old John Hagans have been charged with sexual battery.

According to the Florida Times-Union, Nicholas will not be sentenced until the other trials conclude.

Police were alerted to the abuse in March 2012 after a homeless man flagged down an officer and told him a girl was being molested in a subsidized home on Sixth Street South. The man told the police officer that he had been in the house to use drugs and had seen several men having sex with the girl.

According to the Daily Mail, the girl confided in the homeless man and asked him to “help her make it stop.”

The girl was interviewed by a child protection team and told them that she had been sexually and physically abused by men. Her mother fled the area but was arrested in Georgia.

Nicholas’ lawyer said she didn’t understand what was happening to her daughter because of mental health and drug issues.

“She’s very remorseful about what happened,” attorney Gonzalo Andux said.

A spokesman for the Florida Department of Children and Families said the girl and her younger brother were sent to live with family members when Nicholas was arrested. She faces a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 30 years in prison.
