Melissa Gilbert Engaged To Timothy Busfield


Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield are engaged.

A representative for Gilbert told People, “They are engaged and both are incredibly happy.”

A source told Us Weekly, “They got engaged over the holidays. They’ve known each other for quite some time, as their paths have crossed off-and-on over the past 20 years.”

This will be the third marriage for both Gilbert and Busfield. Gilbert was married to actor and director Bo Brinkman from 1988 until 1992. The two had one son together before they divorced. In 1995, she married actor Bruce Boxleitner. The two also had a son together before divorcing in 2011.

Busfield was married to Radha Delmarter and Jennifer Merwin. His marriage to Merwin, which ended in 2007, lasted almost 20 years. He has three children.

Gilbert and Busfield celebrated their engagement Monday, January 28 at Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills.

Melissa Gilbert starred as Laura Ingalls Wilder on Little House on the Prairie form 1974 to 1984. Since then, she has done mostly television shows, including Babylon 5 and Touched By An Angel. She was elected president of the Screen Actors Guild in 2001 and served two terms before stepping down in 2005. Her younger sister, Sara, is also an actress and played Darlene on Roseanne.

Timothy Busfield is best known for his role as Eliot Weston on Thirtysomething and his recurring role as Danny Concannon on The West Wing. He also appeared on Broadway in A Few Good Men, which was written by The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin later sold the film rights to producer David Brown.
