‘The Walking Dead’: Hines Ward To Make TV Debut

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward will make his television debut on The Walking Dead. The former NFL star is currently employed as a Football Night in America analyst for NBC. Ward is no stranger to the studio cameras. During the 12th season of Dancing with the Stars, Hines and his partner Kym Johnson won the competition.

Before joining on for a stint on the AMC mega hit, The Walking Dead, Hines Ward appeared in The Dark Knight Rises. The former Pittsburgh Steelers star was cast as a football player on the movie’s fictional football team, the Gotham Rogues, Bleacher Report notes.

Ward will not be stepping away from the football realm when he appears on Season 3 Part 2 of The Walking Dead. The former Steelers player will appear on the small screen as a zombie. Hines is a friend of IronE Singleton, known to Walking Dead fans as T-Dog. The affable member of Rick’s group sadly became zombie cuisine before the mid-season break.

Singleton reportedly helped Hines Ward score the wandering zombie role as an episode extra. Although diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fans might think they can spot the NFL star anywhere, the talented Walking Dead makeup crew might make the task extremely difficult.

During an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Hines Ward had this to say about playing a zombie on The Walking Dead

“Just being in makeup preparing me for my role was cool. I actually scared myself when I looked in the mirror for the first time after.”

The Walking Dead Season 3 Part 2 begins on February 10.
