‘Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut’ Coming To The Playstation 3

Playstation 3 owners will be able to experience the gaming phenomenon known as Deadly Premonition when the title receives a so-called “director’s cut” this April.

Although the game was initially shredded in early reviews, Deadly Premonition slowly became the gaming equivalent of a B-movie. The presentation may have been a little rough around the edges, but the overall experience outweighed the negative aspects.

According to Siliconera, Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut will mark the game’s first appearance on the Playstation 3. To sweeten the deal, Rising Star Games, Toybox, and Access Games have made some adjustments to the survival horror game.

In addition to a brand new opening sequence, the updated version of Deadly Premonition features slightly updated graphics. While the developers haven’t gone back to the drawing board for the director’s cut, the imagery is reportedly sharper and a bit more polished than the Xbox 360 edition.

Kotaku is reporting that the game’s controls have been revamped for its Playstation 3 debut as well. Players can how reassign buttons as they see fit, and the camera is now controlled through the right thumb stick. The website explains the improved controls allow the title to perform like other third-person games.

The developers have also made some adjustments to the difficult settings in Deadly Premonition. Instead of allowing gamers to choose between two difficulties, the game now only offers up one type of experience. Access Games explained that the toughness falls between easy and normal.

Another huge improvement is the game’s map. Kotaku explains that the mini-map is now more in tune with the one found in the Grand Theft Auto series. In short, the Playstation 3 version is much more user-friendly.

Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut is supposed to arrive for Playstation 3 on April 30. Unfortunately for Xbox 360 players, the updated version is apparently a PS3 exclusive. Are you a fan of the survival horror game?
