Mark Steines, Wife Split After 17 Years

Former Entertainment Tonight host Mark Steines will split with his wife of 17 years, a statement released by a rep for the family has indicated.

According to the statement, Steines and wife Leanza Cornett are separating after nearly two decades, and the couple have two school-aged boys.

Steines hosted ET from 2004 to 2012, but had appeared on the show from the mid 90s on. Cornett is a former Miss America, and the pair confirmed the split to Us Magazine in a statement that read:

“After a great deal of thought and consideration, we have decided to dissolve our 17-year marriage. At this time our concern is for our boys as we help them with this difficult transition. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”

Steines and Cornett wed back in 1995 on a Hawaiian beach, the same year he began his work with Entertainment Tonight as a correspondent and a decade before he was promoted to host.

Christian Post reported:

“Eva Leanza Cornett, 41, was named Miss Florida in 1992 and Miss America in 1993. Following her pageant years she served as a host to a number of television shows which included Entertainment Tonight and Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire. The boys were born just over a year apart, Kai in 2002 and Avery in 2003.”

A poster on the Us site claims to know Steines in person, and laments the breakup, saying:

“I knew Mark when he was a broadcast student at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. A good guy. Hopefully, they can work things out; 17 years is a long time to just give up on a marriage.”

Steines currently hosts a show on the Hallmark Channel following his ET departure.
