LA Times sports writer Mike Penner, who made headlines two years ago when he announced that he would return to his job after a short break as Christine Daniels, has been founded dead in his Los Angeles home.
Penners transition to Christine made world wide headlines in 2007, not so much because his decision by itself was unique, but because it was unique in the particularly macho space that is sports writing.
After 12 months of living as Christine Daniels, Penner returned to writing under his given name, and reportedly started dressing as a man again.
The death of Penner today is believed to have been a suicide, although that is yet to be confirmed. He was aged 52.
