‘This Is Us’ Cast Celebrates First Day Back On The Set For Season 3, EP Says New Season Will ‘Rock Your World’

This Is Us is set to deliver another earth-shattering season—if the producers of the show are to be believed, that is. Production has finally started for the third season of the hit NBC drama, and the cast and crew were back in full force as they shot the first new scenes of the highly anticipated new season.

Not only did This Is Us producer Dan Fogelman share a sneak peek pic from the very first scene of the show’s third season, but executive producer Ken Olin promised the new episodes will be mind-blowing.

“I’m so lucky,” the This Is Us producer posted to Twitter. “Because when I need someplace full of light & love I get to go to work. Season 3 people… oh my. This. Season. Is. Going. To. Rockyourworld.”

So far, little is known about the premiere episode of the third season of This Is Us, but the second season of the show left viewers with plenty of cliffhangers. Based on the sneak peek photo released by producers (which you can see below), the first scene of the new season will best set in the kitchen of Randall and Beth Pearson (Sterling k Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson), and it looks to be more about cheers than tears.

Speaking of Brown and Watson, the This Is Us couple had a blast when they reunited on the set of the NBC series. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the This Is Us co-stars lightened up the mood between takes on the first day of filming. Brown and his TV wife danced “the Shiggy” to the Drake song “In My Feelings” after jumping out of a golf cart on the soundstage.

Several of the couple’s This Is Us co-stars, including the adult and teen Kate Pearson, Chrissy Metz and Hannah Zeile, posted reaction to the hilarious dance.

While it’s all fun and games between takes on the This Is Us set, the actual scenes are a different story. Fans of the hit series can expect plenty more tearjerkers as the third season dives into mysterious backstories and future-set fantasy scenes. But the first episode, at least, won’t be all doom and gloom.

While viewers don’t know yet exactly where Season 3 of This Is Us will pick up, the first scene appears to be a celebratory moment taking place for Randall and Beth, which is a far cry from where their story left off at the end of Season 2 when their foster daughter Deja (Lyric Ross) was seen trashing their car in a fit of rage while at Kate’s wedding.

Of course, Watson has another reason to celebrate. During a For-Your-Consideration Emmy event in Los Angeles, This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman told the panel that the show will take a “deep dive” into the backstory of Beth during Season 3.

“She’s going to get a showcase, and it’s going to be f—ing amazing,” Fogelman said of Watson’s character, according to CNN.

The season new season of This Is Us will also explore Jack Pearson’s (Milo Ventimiglia) time in Vietnam as well as his early days with wife Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and present day and future-set scenes for the Big Three.

This Is Us returns for its third season on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 9/8c on NBC.
