Adele’s Father Hasn’t Seen The Singer Since 2011 Or Met His Grandson Yet

Brit singer Adele may be a world-famous chart topping superstar, but to her father she’s also virtually a stranger.

Her father, Mark Evans, says he has not been introduced to his daughter’s boyfriend Simon Konecki, and has also never met his now three month old grandson — who is strongly rumored to be named Angelo James Konecki.

The 49-year-old says he has tried contacting his daughter by telephone and letters, even turning up at Adele’s record company XL Recordings in London.

All his efforts have been met with silence.

That silence, says Evans, is the reason why he has finally gone public in a last attempt to let Adele know how much he wants her to get in touch.

“I’ve left messages on her phone, I’ve written to her and I’ve sent her birthday and Christmas cards but it’s like I’m dead to her,” Mark told the Daily Mail.

“I’m not interested in her celebrity status or her money,” he added.”I just want my daughter back and I want to be a proper grandad to the little one.”

Evans admits that he wasn’t always there for his daughter when she was growing up. He says he first lost touch after he suffered a breakdown following the death of Adele’s grandfather (and his father) John in 1999.

Despite a subsequent battle with alcoholism, Evans insists the pair were reunited when Adele was 15 and that he was proud when her career exploded in 2008 after her first album 19 debuted.

But the fragile father-daughter relationship soured again in 2011, after the release of Adele’s second album 21.

In the wake of the album’s success, Evan’s says his entire family were besieged with interview requests from the press. After an planned joint interview with Adele and her father with a journalist fell through when Adele flew to the US at the last minutes, Evans says he gave the interview on his own thinking his daughter wouldn’t object.

“I called her several times to double check she was happy for me to speak but I couldn’t get hold of her. I still assumed she didn’t mind,” Evans recalls.

He added:

“Even afterwards I thought everything was fine because I got feedback from her management that she was very happy with the piece. Then, a few days later, I got a call from Adele’s mum, Penny, shouting down the phone, ‘You shouldn’t have done that.’ “

Evans says the call was disconnected and that was the last contact he had with either his ex-wife and daughter. Now, he says the most painful aspect of his rift with Adele is not being able to see his grandson.

“Not only did I hear I was going to be a granddad for the first time via the media, I found out the same way that she’s calling the baby Angelo James.”

He continued:

“I’d hoped so much that she’d put my late dad’s name, John, in there somewhere, but alas it looks as if it is not going to be. I’m not sure why she’s chosen James, other than a reference to James Bond, and God alone knows where Angelo has come from. It’s very LA, isn’t it?”

Evans says he won’t be watching when his daughter performs the latest Bond film’s titular theme song “Skyfall” at the 85th Academy Awards in Hollywood on February 24, Radar Online reports.

“I know she’ll win because she’s brilliant but I won’t be there and I won’t even watch it [the Oscars] on television,” Evans insists. It would upset me too much to know that I was watching something that my dad never got to see. I’d break down and fall apart.”

Oscar organizers have confirmed there will be a tribute to James Bond at the ceremony at the Dolby Theater to celebrate the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Adele’s performance of “Skyfall” will mark her live debut of the Oscar nominated song.
