‘Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon’ Multiplayer Details Revealed [Video]

Ahead of the March release for Nintendo’s Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, the company has revealed details regarding the game’s multiplayer modes.

It was revealed earlier this week that the sequel to the popular ghost-busting Gamecube title would support local multiplayer. According to Computer and Video Games, Nintendo has detailed what players can expect from the sequel.

Up to four players can join forces for something called “Hunter Mode.” Each player will control a slightly different version of Luigi as they team up to take down a multitude of ghosts inside an enormous haunted skyscraper. Players will have to work together in order to survive the numerous traps, puzzles, and enemies hiding inside the so-called ScareScraper.

The official press release explains:

“Bonuses and upgrades can be earned depending on how well the team performs. There are also boss battles at the top of each tower. Players can choose the number of floors in this mode ranging from five, 10 or 25. They can adjust the difficulty to cater to both new and veteran gamers. Fallen players can even be revived by their teammates to keep the adventure going.”

IGN reports that Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon isn’t just limited to local player. The upcoming Nintendo 3DS title will also support online and “download functionality.” Friends who don’t own a copy of Dark Moon will still be able to battle supernatural villains with their buddies.

The game will also judge you and your friends based on how well you perform during your missions. Those who can’t pull their own weight will be labeled as “Mostly Harmless,” a tag that sure to inspire much ridicule among game-playing friends and family members.
