NFL Reviewing Brady Kick: Patriots QB Could Be Fined For Cheap Shot

The NFL is reviewing a questionable play made by Tom Brady during the AFC Championship game.

Brady was sliding to the ground in order to avoid a hit at the end of the second half when he raised his leg into the air and made contact with Ravens safety Ed Reed. No one was hurt on the play but Sports Illustrated reports that the NFL will be reviewing the kick to see if Brady intentionally tried to injure another player.

According to Ravens safety Bernard Pollard, Brady knew exactly what he was doing when he tried to kick Reed. Pollard said that the NFL has cracked down on linebackers for heavy hits and that the league should treat quarterbacks the same way.

Pollard said:

“When you slide … everything is on the ground. He knew what he was doing. It has to go both ways. Hopefully the NFL will do something about it.”

According to Yahoo News, a first kicking offense would warrant a $7,875.

Here’s a video of the play. The video isn’t the greatest quality and there’s some amateur commentary but you can still see Tom Brady sticking his leg up during a slide.

Do you think Tom Brady’s slide was dirty? Are you surprised that the NFL is reviewing the play?
