Fight Video Teen Found Safe After Bullying Video Hits Facebook

Baileigh Karam was reported missing one week ago after a video of her fight with a bullying classmate was posted on Facebook. On Sunday, police reported that the 14-year-old has been found alive.

Speaking to officials, Karam said she went to stay with her friends after being reported missing on January 11.

The teen disappeared shortly after the fight video was posted on Facebook. The video was recorded on a cell phone and clearly showed Karam being repeatedly punched by another female classmate. Classmates for both girls circled them in the Facebook video and cheered them on as they fought.

The fight allegedly began over the jealousy of a boy.

At the time of her disappearance, Baileigh Karam’s mother Karen was worried that her daughter might be reading her classmates’ comments from the online video.

Karen Karam had previously spoken with school officials, telling them that her daughter was likely being bullied by fellow classmates.

On its website, Carlsbad High School issues the following statement:

“Thank you to the Carlsbad Police Department and everyone who provided assistance and support in this successful effort and welcome outcome.”

The school has not yet revealed how it plans to deal with the fight video.
