Daniel Radcliffe Talks Gay Sex Scenes After ‘Kill Your Darlings’ Sundance Premiere

It shouldn’t take Daniel Radcliffe too long to shed his Harry Potter image. The actor, who starred as the late beat poet Alan Ginsberg in the new movie Kill Your Darlings, shocked his fans with a few explicit gay sex scenes.

Radcliffe said:

“It was something new … But you know what, we shot that whole scene in maybe an hour and a half so it was incredibly fast-paced. I didn’t really have time to stop to think and worry about it.”

E! Online reports that Radcliffe filmed the scene with one of director John Krokidas’ good friends. Radcliffe said that he was able to hang out with the actor on set for a few hours before the shoot which, according to Radcliffe, helped with the intimacy of the scene.

Radcliffe said:

“We were able to hang out a little bit on set and get to know each other a little bit, which I think is important when you’re doing a scene so intimate. You have to feel like you’re both in it together.”

Kill Your Darlings premiered at the Sundance film festival this week. The movie, which also stars Jack Huston as Jack Kerouac and Ben Foster as William S. Burroughs, has earned rave reviews for Radcliffe.

The Independent writes: “Radcliffe provides a defining performance. He is simply terrific as the 18-year-old Ginsberg, fumbling with his sexuality as well as his spectacles, and entirely in the thrall of his friend, fellow writer Lucien Carr.”

Here’s a video of the cast talking about the new movie.
