Nimrod Antal Tabs Metallica For Next Feature Film

For Metallica’s next act, they will be the subject of a feature film written and directed by Nimrod Antal.

After going broke with the films Run, Fat Boy, Run; Pan’s Labyrinth; La Vie En Rose; Last Days; and documentary The King Of Kong: A Fistful Of Quarters, Picturehouse is giving the silver screen another go.

The newly re-founded studio has officially made its first release Metallica Through Never, a feature film that will co-star the members of the legendary metal band.

CinemaBlend got their hands on a press release from Picturehouse CEO Bob Berney revealing details of the upcoming project:

“A young band crew member who is sent out on an urgent mission while the band is playing a rousing live set in front of a sold-out crowd and unexpectedly finds his world turned completely upside down.”

Metallica Through Never was written by Nimrod Antal, who will also direct the picture. He previously directed Vacancy, Armored and most recently Predators. Dane DeHaan will play the lead. He was most recently seen in The Amazing Spider-Man and Chronicle.

About why Berney picked Metallica Through Never as his studio’s return feature, he says:

“Nim and the band have made a film that really captures the spirit of Metallica and their millions of loyal fans. It’s an entertaining genre film with a concert inside it, a fun ride featuring an exciting young actor, Dane DeHaan. It’s a very cool project to reboot Picturehouse with.”

According to First Showing, Metallica Through Never is set to be released August 9, 2013, and Pictures House plans to initially release to three films a year before expanding to six of seven.
