‘Dumb And Dumber To’ Will Be ‘The Same And More,’ Says Director

Director Peter Farrelly dropped some new information about the upcoming Dumb and Dumber sequel while promoting his latest comedy Movie 43.

The filmmaker stated that fans of the original film should have absolutely no problem whatsoever with Dumb and Dumber To. According to Worst Previews, the director says the follow-up is essentially more of the same.

The sequel reportedly picks up 20 years after the adventures contained in the first film. Farrelly said the script will tackle what happened to Lloyd and Harry during the years in-between.

He explained to Coming Soon:

“I love the script. It’s exactly like the first one. We pick up 20 years later. We explain what they’ve done for the last 17 or 18 years. We take off from that and it’s just a lot of laughs. It’s at Warner Bros, and right now it’s being financed outside the studio, but it will be released by Warner Bros. And that’s all being worked out right now. If you liked ‘Dumb and Dumber,’ you’ll like this because it’s the same and more. It’s really fun.”

Fans of Farrelly’s Three Stooges movie probably shouldn’t hold their breath for another entry in that particular series. Although the director said he was proud of the film, it didn’t make enough money at the box office to warrant a sequel. However, Farrelly remarked he would do another in a heartbeat.

NME points that that Dumb and Dumber To is being financed outside of the studio. However, Warner Bros. will reportedly release the film into theaters whenever the project is ready to go.

Although both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have expressed interest in participating in the sequel, it’s still unclear if both actors will end up reprising their respective roles.

If everything goes according to Peter Farrelly’s master plan, then Dumb and Dumber To will eventually find its way into theaters before too long. Are you looking forward to the sequel?
