Actress Katherine McPhee left quite a few people at a loss for words when she showed up at the Golden Globes wearing a plunging black dress.
The Smash star made sure all eyes were on her by sporting a Theysken’s Theory gown that came equipped with a thigh-high split. According to Yahoo! News, Ryan Seacrest was even a little taken aback by the revealing nature of her attire.
Katherine McPhee said she was told to wear something “sexy” to the ceremony on Sunday night. Judging from the reactions her dress has received from countless news outlets and social media junkies, it would seem she hit the nail right on the head.
The actress explained her fashion sense during a recent interview:
“On Idol, I was very strategic with my look. I specifically wore very little makeup, did very little with my hair, I wore beat-up jeans and a simple jacket, and I covered my body up because I knew that viewers like seeing transformation… I wanted to create that story — actually to push the story that I had no idea about fashion — which was not actually true.
The Huffington Post explains that McPhee’s wardrobe isn’t always designed to impress those around her. During an appearance at NBC Universal’s TCA Winter Press Tour Party, the Smash star was spotted in sheer pants, booty shorts, and a leather bra.
Although the actress may have started her career by keeping her fashion choices straight-laced and conservative, it would appear McPhee has started branching off in a completely different direction.
Prior to her time on the hit musical series, Katherine McPhee appeared in a handful of motion pictures. In addition to her role in 2008 comedy The House Bunny, the actress participated in late director David R. Ellis’ horror outing Shark Night 3D.
