Ke$ha Says Miley Cyrus Song Only Netted Her $1.63

During a recent interview, singer and songwriter Ke$ha said she was only paid a whopping $1.63 to write a Miley Cyrus song back in 2009.

The musician recently sat down with the folks at Seventeen magazine to talk about her career. The conversation reportedly covered a number of topics, including the not-so-hefty paycheck she received for penning a tune for the former Hannah Montana star.

According to Yahoo! News, the singer said that all she received for writing “The Time of Our Lives” back in 2009 was a measly $1.63. In addition to Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha has also cranked out songs for the likes of Britney Spears. No word on how much she received from the former X Factor judge.

The singer explained to Seventeen:

“It was like $1.63 cents for a song I wrote – I think for Miley Cyrus. It was an embarrassingly tiny amount. But I never cashed it and it’s on a bulletin board in my house.”

Although she may not have received much for her work on Cyrus’ song, Ke$sha apparently doesn’t hold it against the singer. According to Jam! Showbiz, the songstress said she enjoyed the time she spent working with Cyrus.

Ke$sha explained:

“Writing for Miley was fun ’cause I think she’s funny. I met her and I liked her vibe, so I was like, ‘OK, I’ll write, like, a party song for a younger crowd.”

Although she may have only received under $2 for her work on the Miley Cyrus tune, Ke$ha has since proved she’s worth more than a handful of change. Shortly after finishing work on “The Time of Our Lives,” Ke$ha released her album “Animals.” The collection of songs was an instant hit.

Prior to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, Ke$ha’s tune “Die Young” was getting quite a bit of airplay around the country. However, the song was soon dropped from playlists for fear it would offender listeners.

What do you think about Ke$ha only being paid $1.63 for writing a Miley Cyrus song?
