Rosie O’Donnell Welcomes A New Baby Girl

Rosie O’Donnell and her wife Michelle Rounds welcomed a new baby girl into their growing family on Wednesday. The television star publically announced the new bundle of joy via an Instagram photo. A caption beneath the image noted the little girl’s name is Dakota.

O’Donnell and Rounds both battled health issues last year. In October Rosie announced that she was recovering from an August heart attack, the Today show reports. Round was diagnosed with desmoids tumors in June. The rare tumor condition reportedly required multiple surgeries during treatment.

The couple wed in a private ceremony in September 2011. O’Donnell did not publicly announce the marriage until two months after the women exchanged vows.

Baby Dakota was reportedly born on January 5 and weighed in at 5 pounds and 5 ounces. During an appearance on the Dr. Mehmet Oz Show in January of last year, Rosie O’Donnell stated that Michelle Rounds, 41, was trying to get pregnant.

A representative for the television star noted that both the moms and the baby are healthy and happy. It is not currently known if Rounds is the biological mother of the baby or if the newborn was adopted, OMG Yahoo reports.

Rosie O’Donnell, 50, already has four children from her previous marriage to Kelli Carpenter, according to ABC News. O’Donnell and Carpenter’s children include Blake, Vivienne, Chelsea, and Parker. Baby Dakota is the first child for the actress and Rounds. Rosie O’Donnell and Carpenter’s children range in age from 10 to 17. Rosie and Kelli broke up in 2007 after spending almost a decade together, USA Today notes.
