‘Side Effects’ Starring Channing Tatum And Jude Law Lands A New Trailer [Video]

A brand new trailer for acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects has landed online.

The film’s arrival is certainly bittersweet for fans of the filmmaker. While the arrival of a Soderbergh picture is always good news, the fact that it could be his final theatrical effort is a little disappointing for those who have followed his work for years.

According to First Showing, the film is presently slated to arrive in theaters beginning next month. In addition to Soderbergh’s new best friend Channing Tatum, Side Effects also features Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara.

The film has been officially described as follows:

“SIDE EFFECTS is a provocative thriller about Emily and Martin (Mara and Tatum), a successful New York couple whose world unravels when a new drug prescribed by Emily’s psychiatrist (Law) — intended to treat anxiety – has unexpected side effects.”

Although Soderbergh doesn’t latch on to any particular genre for too long, his style is still evident even in the one-minute trailer you see embedded below. While the story itself may seem a little pedestrian, the director’s execution of the material is often much smarter than it appears on paper.

Before the Soderbergh says goodbye to the proverbial director’s chair forever, the filmmaker will unleash Behind the Candelabra starring Matt Damon, Michael Douglas, and Dan Aykroyd. The HBO movie chronicles the relationship between Liberace (Douglas) and his much younger lover (Damon).

Indiewire explains that, while Side Effects could be the director’s last theatrical film, Behind the Candelabra will be his final feature-length motion picture.

The latest trailer for Side Effects has been embedded below.

Behind the Candelabra will arrive on HBO at some point during 2013. Side Effects will find its way into US theaters on February 8. Are you a fan of Steven Soderbergh?
