‘Here Comes The Boom’ Starring Kevin James Hits Home Video This February

Director Frank Coraci’s sports comedy Here Comes the Boom starring Kevin James and Salma Hayek will fight its way onto home video this February.

The film reportedly gives the former King of Queens star a chance to stretch his legs a bit as an actor. James lost quite a bit of weight in preparation for the role, which is immediately noticeable in the film’s trailers and posters.

Here Comes the Boom finds James tackling the role of a high school teacher who refuses to sit idly buy as budget cuts begin crippling the school. In order to make some extra money for the music program, James decides to enter the world of mixed martial arts.

According to High-Def Digest, the Blu-ray edition of the film comes with 18 deleted scenes and a five behind-the-scenes featurettes. A gag reel is included in the set as well.

For those who are into the cloud storage thing, the Here Comes the Boom Blu-ray has you covered. Cinema Blend reports that each purchase comes with an Ultraviolet copy of the film, which allows you to watch the feature from any compatible device.

DVD fans aren’t being left out in the cold; Sony Pictures is releasing a standard definition of the movie on the same day the Blu-ray drops. However, the disc will only contain the deleted scenes and the “Here Comes the Cast” featurette.

Next up for James is director Alejandro Monteverde’s comedy Little Boy with Sean Astin and Emily Watson. The actor is also slated to reprise his role as Eric Lamonsoff in Dennis Dugan’s upcoming Grown Ups 2. The sequel to the 2010 box office hit will arrive in theaters on July 12, 2013.
