‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 8 Theory: Bran Stark Possibly Connected To Ancient Character From First Season

Game of Thrones is finally drawing to a close, and fans are already contemplating on how the HBO fantasy drama will end. There is much hope that mysteries will finally unravel as major questions are answered in the final season. So will Game of Thrones Season 8 actually reveal the truth about Bran Stark’s powers? There is a possibility that the youngest surviving Stark boy might be connected to an ancient character that somehow made an appearance in the first season.

There is no shortage of theories about Bran Stark, especially now that he has been declared the new Three-Eyed Raven and is beginning to act differently around his loved ones. Some believe this could be proof that Bran is actually the Night King. But will Game of Thrones Season 8 reveal that Bran’s new identity is actually his old one? Isaac Hempstead Wright seems to believe that his character could be more ancient than he appears to be.

Game of Thrones Season 8 star Isaac Hempstead Wright recently spoke to Time about his favorite theories about Bran Stark. Interestingly, the young actor admitted he enjoys the idea that “Bran becomes the Three-Eyed Raven that was in his dreams when he was younger,” calling it “a full circle.”

“I like the idea that it’s a deterministic, destiny driven thing where the old wise man went back in time as the Three-Eyed Raven to tell the young Bran to go north to the cave and it’s a paradox.”

The idea of the Three-Eyed Raven returning to the past to help his young self along the way certainly sounds like an interesting way to close out Bran Stark’s story in Game of Thrones Season 8. However, some fans are quick to argue that the Greenseer is a completely different character with his own rich backstory.

Before he ended up with the children of the forest, The Three-Eyed Raven was known as Lord Brynden Rivers, the Great Bastard of Aegon IV Targaryen. In A Dance with Dragons, the fifth novel of A Song of Ice and Fire, the Greenseer actually tells Bran Stark about his past. Nevertheless, it is still possible that the TV series will change the Three-Eyed Raven’s origins to fit with the theory in Game of Thrones Season 8.

It is still unclear how Bran Stark’s story will turn out in the final season. Hopefully, the new Three-Eyed Raven will be able to help in the battle against the White Walkers. Game of Thrones Season 8 is set to premiere in early 2019.
