‘NCIS’ Season 15: Mark Harmon Explains Pauley Perrette’s Decision To Move On From CBS Show

Mark Harmon has been bombarded with exit rumors for years but Pauley Perrette came out of nowhere and shocked the world when she revealed that it was actually her who’s leaving the hit CBS show. The actress announced last month that NCIS Season 15 will be the last installment that she will be a part of. Although her character will surely be missed, the Certain Prey actor understands why Pauley has to move on from the series.

Just like Mark Harmon (Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs), Pauley Perrette (Abby Sciuto) is one of the important characters in NCIS. After reports confirmed that the 48-year-old actress is leaving the series at the end of NCIS Season 15, many are convinced that the show will never be the same again.

Even though Mark Harmon knows that avid viewers of NCIS will definitely feel the absence of Pauley Perrette’s character once she will officially bid her farewell, he completely understands her decision.

“Oh, we’ll miss her. I’m really aware, and we’re all aware that audiences grow to love characters, and it’s a big deal. And we honor that,” Mark Harmon told ET‘s Kevin Frazier. “Fifteen years is a long time. People do what they do, and they move on and they do other things and that’s part of life.”

Although Pauley Perrette’s exit will certainly leave a big hole to the NCIS family, Mark Harmon is not taking her departure as something negative. Instead, the 66-year-old actor sees it as an “opportunity to rebirth, to rejuvenate, to try new things, to grow.”

Despite Mark Harmon’s optimism, his own exit rumors never really died down. Whispers and speculations revealed that the NCIS Season 15 actor is going to leave the show to focus more on his alleged frail condition.

All of these Mark Harmon health crisis rumors started when fans noticed the beloved actor looking extra thin in NCIS Season 14. Although his return in NCIS Season 15 seemingly slammed all talks that he’s leaving the CBS series, his contract is ending soon and many are speculating that he might follow Pauley Perrette’s exit.

But just like any other rumors regarding his health and alleged exit, this has yet to be verified.

For now, catch Mark Harmon in NCIS Season 15 every Tuesday on CBS at 8 pm.
