Kenny Omega Bashes WWE, States That Everyone In The Company Is ‘Below Him’

Kenny Omega had some choice words to say during a press conference following the blockbuster announcement that he will be competing against Chris Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 12 inside the Tokyo Dome. Following his match at Power Struggle against Beretta, in which he successfully defended the IWGP United States Championship, Omega cut a promo to celebrate his accomplishment. Suddenly, the lights go out, the countdown hits, and Jericho appears on the jumbo screen to challenge Omega to a match.

During the press conference, Omega was asked whether he would want WWE to watch his upcoming match with Jericho in hopes for a future spot in the company. He then responded with this bold statement.

“No. WWE in general – you can quote me on this, I don’t care – everyone there is so below me. No one can put together a performance better than me from there. Anyone that is copying anyone is copying me.”

Omega went on to say that he is “the trend right now,” and that he does not need to search anyone as an opponent. He also stated that he does not need to compete against anyone from the WWE to prove anything, as he has accomplished a great amount of success while competing in New Japan.

The tension between Jericho and Omega first became public during a series of tweets regarding who is the “best in the world,” following a fan giving that honor to Omega after watching his third match against Kazuchika Okada. Jericho blasted Omega, stating that he is not even the “best in Winnipeg,” and that he is “overrated.” Omega responded, “never meet you heroes, lest they be a corporate stooge.”

Jericho then reminded Omega that he used to team with his boss Gedo, and that he can make Omega’s push end with one phone call.

While many felt as if this was all a work and was not going to lead to anything, it was quite the shock to see Jericho make a surprise appearance via jumbo screen at Power Struggle. While it is believed that Jericho will be returning to WWE after this match, it certainly gives Omega’s status as a competitor a great boost. In addition, The IWGP United States Championship is getting more credibility after being debuted this year.
