5 Possible WWE Feuds For The Undertaker Return

After a Cageside Seats report that the WWE is considering a much more significant role for The Undertaker when he makes a special appearance at the Monday Night Raw 25th anniversary special, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via What Culture) reported that this could all lead to a match for the Deadman at WrestleMania 34.

There are a lot of questions surrounding a WWE return for The Undertaker, not the least of which what it means for Roman Reigns, the man who retired Undertaker. However, there are a few directions the WWE could go from here when it comes to feuds.

1. The Undertaker Vs. Roman Reigns

When the WWE hinted that The Undertaker retired, it was all subliminal at first. The Undertaker left his gloves, hat and duster in the ring on the mat and walked off without them. The idea was that The Undertaker left his persona in the ring and the WWE Universe would never see the character in a WWE ring again.

However, Roman Reigns has been bragging about retiring The Undertaker ever since that happened. Roman acting like he was the man who put down the Dead Man once and for all could be enough to lead Undertaker back out of retirement for a revenge match. Maxim reports that the WWE return for The Undertaker could be at the Survivor Series, which could lead to him confronting Roman Reigns.

2. The Undertaker As A Referee

According to Bleacher Report, the most prominent match coming up at WrestleMania 34 is hinted to be Brock Lesnar defending his WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns. What do the two men have in common? Other than the fact that they are both wrecking machines in the ring, they are also the only men to beat The Undertaker at a WrestleMania event.

It is hard to see The Undertaker as a referee in a match, but he is the piece that ties this feud together. There is always a chance the WWE could see Undertaker as a referee in the match between the two men who proved he was beatable.

3. The Undertaker Vs.Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman was supposed to fight The Undertaker at WrestleMania as well, part of a massive push to elevate the Monster of Men to main event status. However, he didn’t get the shot and still ended up as one of the biggest stars in the WWE. Now, Strowman is involved in a feud with Undertaker’s brother Kane.

There is no telling how long that Braun Strowman and Kane will feud but Bleacher Report indicates it exists to elevate Braun as the WWE’s top monster. Would it mean for the career of Braun Strowman if he beat Kane and The Undertaker in a handicap match at WrestleMania 34, and retired both men?

4. The Undertaker Vs. John Cena

Rumors have it that The Undertaker was supposed to fight John Cena at WrestleMania 33, but the WWE believed they didn’t need that match to sell the event. As a result, Roman Reigns beat The Undertaker, and John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella after they beat The Miz and Maryse.

However, there is no reason not to think that John Cena vs. The Undertaker would not be the most desired dream match for WWE fans right now. The only problem is that WWE rumors indicate that John Cena might break the all-time world title holder record in a match against Jinder Mahal at WrestleMania 34. Forbes reported that this could be the match big enough to bring back The Undertaker.

5. The Undertaker Vs. Sting

The Undertaker vs. Sting is the dream match that professional wrestling fans never got to see. There were WWE rumors that the two were supposed to fight at WrestleMania 31, but Sting ended up losing to Triple H in his only WrestleMania match. There were still hopes for WrestleMania 32, but an injury in a match with Seth Rollins ended Sting’s career.

Sting said in an interview with Talkin’ Cowboys in December 2016 that he would consider a return to the ring for a match with the Undertaker. If Sting could pass a physical and The Undertaker was willing to do it, a match between the greatest wrestler in WCW history against the most legendary character in WWE history would headline any WrestleMania event. It is just the longest shot of them all.
