Blake Shelton Throws Shade At Adam Levine’s New Album As They Compete For Sales

Blake Shelton started a friendly feud with Adam Levine as The Voice stars compete over their new albums. In a recent post on Instagram, Shelton poked fun at Levine’s clothes and said that he hopes his music is better than his attire.

The post was met with mixed reactions amongst fans. Some followers sided with Shelton, while others offered some kind words of support for the Maroon 5 frontman. The co-stars share a long history of friendly ribbing, and things are heating up as they as they both prepare to launch their new projects.

According to Billboard, Shelton and Levine struck up a bet over who will sell more albums. While filming for the current season of The Voice, the coaches placed a wager on who will come out on top after the first weekend of sales. Shelton is releasing his 11th album, Texoma Shore, while Levine and his band Maroon 5 put together their sixth album, Red Pill Blues, both of which released last Friday.

In a hilarious clip, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine outlined the terms of their friendly wager. If Shelton sells more albums, then Levine must call him “Captain Country.” If Levine comes out on top, the country star has to call him “The Greatest There Ever Was.” Whoever loses has to follow through with the bet when The Voice starts filming live.

While Levine and Shelton are competing over album sales, they are still good friends in real life. In a recent interview, Taste of Country reports that Levine opened up about his co-star’s romance with Gwen Stefani and assured fans that they are head over heels for each other. Levine jokingly told Howard Stern that they are so much in love that he finds it disgusting.

Levine sadly did not say anything about the possibility of a wedding for Shelton and Stefani. Shelton started dating the No Doubt alum while working on The Voice with Levine. Although Shelton and Stefani have been together for a few years now, Levine still can’t believe the country star landed somebody like Stefani.

“I still tell [Blake], ‘I can’t believe you get to be with Gwen Stefani’…It’s just not f***ing right!” Levine shared.

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
