Melania Trump Wasn’t Royally Disrespected With Mysterious Hand Gesture Despite Rumor

A mysterious hand gesture is explained today after rumor had it this was a disrespectful move aimed at First Lady Melania Trump. It seems that people tend to see what they want to see when it comes to the Trump family today, but according to the latest reports, what they were seeing back in September was nothing more than a wardrobe adjustment. Today, that mysterious and rather “awkward” photo of Prince Harry and Melania Trump is explained.

Melania Trump and Prince Harry turned up in some awkward photos during the Invictus Games leading to all types of rumors at the time, which included Harry giving Melania some type of evil hand gesture. In one photo, Melania and Harry are standing side-by-side and Harry has his hand on his jacket with only two fingers showing. This photo soon snowballed into the rumor that he was flashing the “devil’s horn” hand gesture, which took off like wildfire.

According to the Huffington Post, that picture was analyzed and scrutinized at the time across the Internet as an “awkward hand signal he flashed next to the first lady.” Even a “body language expert” weighed in on Harry displaying a sign of “self-comfort,” which didn’t point to him being comfortable. The rumors swirled with some reporting “Harry forced a smile” as he met with Melania Trump, as The Sun reported.

Some of the reports made Harry out to be very uncomfortable around Melania during their 20-minute meeting before the Invictus Games and even later on as they watched the games together. Then when Harry’s hand gesture came into play, the rumors were fortified, but that was just not true, according to the new report from the Huffington Post.

That wasn’t a hand gesture that Harry was making, the picture caught him in an act that most gentlemen embark on before taking their seat. Harry was doing nothing more than unbuttoning his jacket to loosen this article of clothing before sitting down.

The Express U.K was one of the few reports from back in September during the Invictus Games in Canada to report that Harry and Melania got along famously and today’s Huffington Post report adds evidence to this. According to the Huffington Post, the “real story” behind that hand gesture rumor, was explained by Harry who said he started to unbutton his coat before sitting down and stopped as the cameras were clicking away.

What you and everyone else saw in that picture was Harry in the process of unbuttoning his coat, reports CNN’s Kate Bennett, who is a White House correspondent who follows the Trump family’s day to day life closely. She said Harry was “pausing” because the cameras were still taking pictures of the two standing together.

She reports Melania Trump as saying it was an “amazing day” when talking about her time with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games. During her interview, Bennett, who watched Melania Trump as she watched the Invictus Games that day, said:

“It was very moving to watch her at the Invictus Games as the Wounded Warriors and the USA team came out… Although the press was seated quite far from her, we could see her, and I could tell that she was doing the hand motions or when she was doing a standing ovation. It was very interesting to watch her.”

Bennett, who also spent the last year and a half of the Obama Administration writing about the former first family. She comments that Michelle Obama and Melania Trump are much more similar than people realize. She said:

“They’re not that dissimilar in their enthusiasm for the job, but their skill sets are obviously different because they have different strengths and weaknesses,” Bennett said. “I think people categorize Melania as a whole. They say she doesn’t want to be here, she doesn’t deign to touch the White House. I think those people would be surprised by just how opposite [of that] she is.”
