‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Stars, Director, And Marvel Studios President Surprise Fans Before Movie Begins

Last night fans at a Los Angeles ArcLight Cinemas were given the surprise of a lifetime when two of the film’s actors, the movie’s director and the Marvel Studios president himself, showed up. The surprise occurred just before trailers were about to start, and the audience clearly had no idea.

It all began as an ArcLight employee was explaining exit procedures to the audience and filling them in on general theater information. As the employee was about to exit the stage, she mentioned there would be a few more announcements.

Within seconds, Marvel Studios President (and Ragnarok producer) Kevin Feige walked out and introduced himself as the crowd roared. Feige explained he was happy to be in the theater that Iron Man debuted in almost 10 years ago.

Feige then introduced Ragnarok‘s director, Taika Waititi. Waititi came out looking very fashionable and thanked the crowd for their applause. He then called Feige a good friend and admitted to having two other friends with him.

The director then introduced Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, and MCU newcomer, Tessa Thompson. The crowd was left in shock as they screamed at the top of their lungs, with the actors entrance undoubtedly their favorite of the night. Hemsworth joked that they would be giving a live performance of the movie, as the crowd captured the moment with their phones.

Hemsworth went on to thank the audience for coming and admitted it was his first time surprising a movie theater crowd. He continued to be gracious as he thanked the viewers for allowing him and his co-stars to make these popular films.

Thompson got in a quick “thank you” before Feige told the crowd to enjoy the movie, and the group promptly left.

The whole surprise was documented live on Marvel’s Facebook page for fans to see. Thousands of comments came flooding in from jealous onlookers, who also praised the movie.

Ragnarok is smashing the box office and is projected to make over $115 million in its opening weekend according to Box Office Mojo. Doing so would make it the seventh highest opener in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
