Kate Middleton Is Not Expecting Twins, Says A Kensington Palace Insider

There is a great deal of excitement about the pregnancy of Kate Middleton, and the rumor that Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William were having twins has spread like wildfire. But is there any truth to the story that Kate Middleton is having more than one baby in April of 2018? The answer is no. Kensington Palace released a statement that said that Princess Kate is having one baby and one baby only. Kate is now four months pregnant and looks similar to the way she looked when pregnant with Princess Charlotte.

Kensington Palace put out an official statement about Kate Middleton’s third pregnancy after she suffered severe morning sickness in her first trimester, the way she did with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Kate had to cancel several appearances as a result of her sickness, so the palace had to explain the absence of Kate Middleton perhaps earlier than expected.

But as Kensington Palace announced the pregnancy, other topics came up, like the line of succession. Both Prince George and Princess Charlotte have leapfrogged their father, Prince William’s brother, Prince Harry, due to the Succession of the Crown Act, written by Prince William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

So Kate Middleton’s next baby, no matter the gender, will follow Princess Charlotte in the line of succession.

“In determining the succession to the Crown, the gender of a person born after 28 October 2011 does not give that person, or that person’s descendants, precedence over any other person (whenever born).”

A tabloid has repeated the rumor that Princess Kate and Prince William are having twins, even going as far as saying that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were surprised that they were having “twin girls.” The rumor continued saying that Princess Kate had already decided not to dress the girls alike, and didn’t want rhyming names.

“Kate and William haven’t decided on names yet. They don’t plan to coordinate them to start with the same letter or rhyme. [They are considering] the names Victoria, Alice, Olivia, Alexandra, and Elizabeth.”

But Kensington Palace was clear that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting a baby, singular, in April. But the same tabloid, Life & Style, continued to push the story about Kate Middleton being pregnant with twins, and sadly, other news outlets helped perpetuate the false story.

“The twins will sleep in separate bedrooms but will share a playroom with George and Charlotte. Kate feels that it’s important for her eldest two to bond with the newborns.”

This information cannot be sourced, and if it did come from someone “who knows” Kate Middleton, the source does not give a name, and the information is in contrast to what Kensington Palace has reported about Princess Kate and Prince William’s next child.

When asked about the rumor that Princess Kate is having twins, Kensington Palace directed the press back to the original announcement that was shared on Twitter.

“Kensington Palace has just announced that the new baby Cambridge will arrive in April.”

The palace says it stands by the statement.
