‘N*****s Are Like ISIS, They Have No Value,’ Said Arrested Former New Jersey Police Chief Frank Nucera

Frank Nucera Jr. is a former police chief out of New Jersey who was recently arrested and charged with a federal hate crime. According to CNN, Nucera has been charged with the hate crime due to the incidents surrounding the 2016 arrest of an African-American suspect. The hate crime charges were announced during a press conference on Wednesday, November 1 in Camden, New Jersey. Nucera retired from his role as police chief in Bordentown Township as the FBI investigated him in January.

According to NBC News, Frank was charged with a long list of racial abuses, including using racial epithets towards African Americans, as well as using police dogs to frighten African Americans at an apartment complex and at a local high school basketball game. Nucera was recorded by an officer, with Nucera being caught on tape talking about an African-American suspect who was believed to have slashed a police vehicle’s tires. Nucera likened African Americans to ISIS members, saying that both groups had no value.

“N*****s are like ISIS, they have no value.”

Nucera once served as township administrator for Bordentown, a job that brought in $151,418 annually. After retiring from the position in the town whose demographics are 76 percent white and 9 percent black, Nucera began receiving monthly state pension retirement benefits of $8,832 per month.

Nucera’s charges stem from an incident that happened on September 1, 2016, when police officers responded to a hotel where an African-American teenage couple allegedly hadn’t paid for their hotel room. The 18-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl were questioned by authorities, with the boy reportedly tussling with police, causing the boy to get pepper sprayed. Nucera arrived as back-up, along with the officer who had been secretly recording him.

The boy allegedly stopped walking on the way to the police car, and that’s when Nucera reportedly slammed the boy’s head into the metal part of a door and hit the boy in the head with Nucera’s arm. The boy requested a hospital visit, and Nucera launched into a racial tirade. Ultimately, Nucera was arrested and charged with a hate crime that included using excessive force. Nucera faces up to 10 years in prison.
