BTS To Perform ‘DNA’ At The American Music Awards; Fans Disappointed At Song Roster

BTS has been invited to perform at the upcoming American Music Awards. The record-breaking K-pop band’s appearance was recently announced and has already shook the nation.

According to Forbes, news of BTS’s upcoming performance at the award show was announced on the AMA’s official Twitter page. BitHit Entertainment, a South Korean entertainment company, announced the news simultaneously on its own Twitter page as well.

The group’s fan base, collectively known as the A.R.M.Y or the Adorable Representative M.C’s for Youth, immediately reacted to the exciting news. In fact, members of the A.R.M.Y even started making some song requests for BTS’ performance at the AMAs. Most BTS fans want to see the boys perform “Fire” and “BST.”

Unfortunately, the band will be sticking to their most recent hit, “DNA,” for the upcoming American Music Awards. “DNA” is from their latest album Love Yourself: Her, which reached No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in September.

“Let it be the almighty ‘BST,’ and ‘FIRE’ combo please or at least one of them but not ‘DNA,'” commented goddosureiya17 in a K-pop subreddit.

Based on some of the A.R.M.Y’s reactions, however, “DNA” doesn’t seem to be BTS’ best single. A lot of the A.R.M.Y believe that a combo performance of “Fire” and “BST” would be better to for the Korean band’s official entrance into the American music industry. It appears that loyal BTS fans want the boys to put their best foot forward at the AMAs. “DNA” doesn’t seem to be the song that shows the Korean band’s remarkable talent to its maximum capacity.

“I hope they are smart enough to know that even though ‘DNA’ is their latest release, it won’t be the optimal performance… ‘DNA’ aka ordinary generic K-pop boy group song,” replies goddosureiya17 to asddsalkjjkl, who guess correctly that the band will be performing their latest release.

“‘DNA’ was on [Billboard] hot 100 for four weeks, and it’s confirmed they’ll perform it. That being said, I hope they’ll sing ‘BST’ & ‘Fire’ too. It’s their best hype songs with bombastic choreos,” added drvilvp on the same thread.

“They’re doing ‘DNA’ unfortunately. (‘DNA’ is a bop, but ‘BST’ and ‘FIRE’ deserve that intro to the US tbh),” commented lilydabbs.

The Korean group’s appearance in the AMAs signals a shift in the American music industry. It shows the world that mainstream music-lovers in the United States are ready to open their doors and ears to international music. Thus, the song BTS performs at the American Music Awards is very important.

Regardless of the song the band chooses to perform, BTS seems unstoppable. The group first surprised American music lovers back in May of this year at the Billboard Music Awards. According to CNN, BTS won the award for Top Social Artist, beating big names like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Ariana Grande.

The South Korean superstars became the first K-pop group to win a Billboard award. Their performance at the American Music Awards marks another milestone in BTS’ career.

The American Music Awards will air on live TV on November 19 at 5 pm. The red-carpet pre-show will be streamed on Twitter worldwide.
