Meghan Markle Has Reportedly Retired From Acting, She Is Now A ‘Humanitarian Campaigner’ AKA Princess

Ever since Meghan Markle appeared with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in September, rumors have been flying that the actress is leaving her job on Suits, and moving from Toronto to London. Now, a new report has surfaced that Markle has retired from acting and will focus on a career as a humanitarian campaigner. Is the 36-year-old leaving her career behind to focus on charity work because she will soon be a princess?

According to Closer Weekly, Markle is ready to use her high profile to bring attention to causes that are important to her, and she and her boyfriend have discussed how they can work together. Both Harry and Markle are passionate about charity work in Africa, with the Prince being involved with the children of Botswana and Lesotho through his charity Sentebale and Markle working in Rwanda last year to promote World Vision’s clean water campaign.

Markle has talked about broadening her role as an ambassador with World Vision. In addition to her work in Rwanda, she also traveled to India to bring attention to the plight of young women who are forced to stop attending school when they have their periods. After the visit, she wrote a piece in Time Magazine about the stigma of menstruation.

Long before she met Prince Harry, Meghan Markle started working as a counselor for One Young World and an ambassador for the UN, and she has plans to develop those roles further. In 2015, she addressed the UN at the International Women’s Conference and received a standing ovation after her speech about gender equality.

A source close to Markle says that she wants to do more global charity work, and plans to move to London so she can run her business from there.

Leaving acting and moving to the U.K. are just two more signs that an engagement announcement is coming soon. As Vanity Fair reports, Markle has already met with the Queen, and she has given her royal approval to the couple, which is required because Harry is currently fifth in line to the throne.

With the family celebrating the 70th anniversary this month of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth and the holidays being right around the corner, it is most likely that an official engagement announcement for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will come around the beginning of the new year.
