Starbucks Just Released Their New Holiday Cups With Meaningful Message, See The Story Behind The Cup Here

It wouldn’t be the holidays without Starbucks releasing a photo of their highly anticipated new coffee cup.

The coffee giant wasted no time getting into the holiday spirit on the day after Halloween. Today, the Seattle based company debuted their 2017 holiday cup with the meaningful message of “Give Good.” The message that will be displayed on the sleeve for hot coffee and is meant to inspire people to give back. This year, the company shied away from their basic red cups and opted to give customers a little bit more color.

The cup includes the traditional green Starbucks logo in the middle with black and red doodles all around. Among the images on the new holiday released cups are two hands holding each other, a Christmas tree, and a stack of presents. The cup also does feature their previous signature red cups in the doodle.

People reports that Starbucks is encouraging customers to color in the mug themselves to give in their own personal touch. Leanne Fremar, the Executive Creative Director for Starbucks, said in a statement that she loves the idea of customers being able to make “this year’s cup their own.”

Jordan Kay, who designed the cup for Starbucks, said that the hands are the focal point of the cup.

“I liked the idea of hands as the centering point, a symbol of connection, love and giving joy,” USA Today reports.

Of course, most people remember the controversy of Starbucks’ 2015 cups that were just plain red. Fox News reported that the company received a ton of backlash over the “boring” cups because they didn’t have any trees or ornaments or anything else festive on them. Many people even called for a boycott of the coffee spot.

But things seem to be going well so far this year. Starbucks just released a video of the cup to their 15.6 million-plus Instagram followers, and it’s already gaining a ton of buzz. The video shows different doodled cups flashing with holiday music playing in the background. In just a short time on their page, the video has already gained over 63,000 views and over 200 comments. And the customer response to Starbucks’ newest creation is overall very positive.

“Super decorative. Very dope.”

“I love this cup!” another Starbucks enthusiast declared.

And with the release of the holiday cup also comes the release of Starbucks signature holiday drinks, including the Caramel Brulée Latte, Peppermint Mocha, and Chestnut Praline.
