‘Gotham’ Casts Peyton List As The New Poison Ivy, Selina Kyle Gets New Look

There’s a new Poison Ivy wreaking havoc in Gotham. Peyton List, the 31-year-old actress and professional model, has been cast as the new Ivy “Pamela” Pepper replacing Maggie Geha, who played the role of the villain in Season 3 and part of Season 4.

As reported by Digital Spy, the producers of Gotham said that they decided to cast Peyton List (not to be confused with the 19-year-old Peyton Roi List who starred in Disney Channel’s Jessie and Bunk’d) over Geha in line with “the continuing evolution of Poison Ivy’s origin story.” The Gotham bigwigs also said that “Ivy Pepper has been transformed once again” to become more like “the Ivy we know from the comics – dangerous [and] a live wire of crazy energy.”

“She’ll set her sights on Gotham, intent on making the city her own green paradise,” the producers said of the version of Poison Ivy to be played by List.

This is not the first time that List was involved in a show featuring superheroes. Peyton previously played Lisa Snart aka the Golden Glider in The Flash, another DC character-based TV series that aired on The CW. List has also starred in Big Shots, Mad Men, FlashForward, The Tomorrow People, and Frequency.

List is the third actress to play the plant-loving Poison Ivy in Gotham. The first one to play the character was Clair Foley, who had a recurring role in Season 1. Geha played the version of Poison Ivy who bonded with Selina Kyle, played by Camren Bicondova.

Geha confirmed the recasting of Poison Ivy via Twitter. “Peace Gotham,” Geha said mirroring Foley’s reaction to when her character was recast. “Best of luck to the new Ivy!”

Poison Ivy is not the only popular Gotham character getting an upgrade. Selina Kyle will look a bit different from what fans of the TV show have been accustomed to. According to Comicbook.com, the new Selina Kyle outfit will be without the clunky steampunk goggles. In its stead, Selina Kyle will sport a new mask making her look a bit more like the Catwoman character in the comic books.

Aside from the costume upgrade, Selina will also become more dangerous with a bullwhip, a clear homage to the film and comic book versions of Catwoman. The official Gotham Twitter account announced the costume change on October 31. The tweet shows Selina Kyle wearing a glossy black mask to go with her black suit.

List will be first seen in Gotham sometime in early 2018, according to IGN. Gotham airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
